What Do You Think Makes God Sad?

“When people don’t believe in Him,” said my 7 year-old daughter.

  1. Very insightful response for a seven year old…you and your husband, with God’s help, are definitely doing something right!!!

  2. Mornin’ Atoz.

Just checking in on how you are doing.

Sounds like you’re doing just fine :). God is good.

I agree with your 7 year old. I think I’d only add that he wishes (like all parents) that us (as his children) would understand that he loves us more than anyone and he only tells us what to do because he loves us and to DO it. To watch us go through all kinds of things that only bring pain to us…gotta make him sad to watch.

I wanted to tell you that your whole dilemma this week made me start to research BSF. I think sometimes that we think if someone is Christian and in a position of “authority” we believe them and don’t question.

And in you that is one of the things I love the most. That you question. I hope I can make this make sense…but when someone questions…that means they take responsibility for themselves. If you don’t care about what you believe, who will?

I cannot tell you how many times I’d get so…aggravated…when people would just blindly accept what a doctor said when I worked in the medical field. Especially in the day and age of easily accessed info on the web. Not all doctors are the brightest crayon in the box.

God works through us all somehow, Atoz. Even a wee 7 year old. I’m getting ready to read a book that was suggested to me by a person I love and trust and it’s called When People are Big and God is Small (Edward Welch, I think).

From what I was told about the book, (which isn’t a whole lot because she felt it was a book that needs to “hit” each of us uniquely)…it might be one you might want to consider adding to your “reading list” too or maybe check out for yourself.

Rainy and really windy here in Chicago. I just want to nap, but hubby is at church and wee one’s Sesame Street fix is just about over. I hear Elmo. 🙂

John Ortberg is at our church this weekend. Was a GREAT sermon. I don’t know if it will be posted online or not. But if you’re interested, let me know and I’ll get you the web site (in your spare time! LOL). Have you read any of his books? I’ve only read one, IT ALL GOES BACK IN THE BOX.

I’m glad you sound ok. Makes my day…not that I had any doubts and judging by the responses I’ve read…you’re pretty well loved :-). Good for you!

    Hugs,
    Nancy
