Summer Devotional July 19th, 2017

Job 37:14:  “Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God’s wonders.”

I know “stop and smell the roses” is such a cliche, but it’s something we all need to do.  Today I encourage you to stop and take in the wonders of nature (God’s hand) all around you no matter in a big city or a small town, forest or sea, mountains or prairie.  God is everywhere in everything and we often miss Him in all of our busy-ness.  He created this world for us and we miss Him when we ignore the animals and trees and sky around us.

Pet a cat or dog.  Look up in the sky and enjoy the hawk or the gull.  Visit a park and sit and watch the grass and trees sway in the wind.  Go on a hike.  Or a run.  Take a walk with friends.  And stop when you see a blooming flower in bright orange or red or yellow or purple.  Then thank Him.  For all He’s given and all He’s done.  You’ll be amazed at the change in your outlook if you do.

  1. I love this post. There is so much beauty around us if we just look up and see. God’s glory surrounds us. I say my morning prayers while I am walking, and I am surrounded by birds singing, beautiful skies and colors so grand they almost hurt my heart. No one but our great God could have created such magnificence for us. What a gift, what love. I enjoy your devotionals and your comments. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and guidance. Be awesomely blessed this day.

    1. Amen, Amen Our God is an awesome God and His wonders to behold. It takes my breath away.I Love Him.

  2. We look at the world; we see a vast machine which is working in order. Suns rise and set in an unvarying succession. Tides ebb and flow to a timetable. Seasons follow each other in an order. We look at the world, and we are bound to say, “Somewhere there must be a world-maker.” The fact of the world drives us to God.

We might begin from ourselves. The one thing man has never created is life. Man can alter and rearrange and change things, but he cannot create a living thing.

Where then did we get our life? From our parents. Yes, but where did they get theirs? From their parents. But where did all this begin? At some time life must have come into the world; and it must have come from outside the world for man cannot create life; and once again we are driven back to God.

When we look in upon ourselves and out upon the world we are driven to God. The moral law within us, and the starry heavens above us, drive us to God.
