BSF Study Questions Acts Lesson 2, Day 4: Acts 2:22-32

Summary of passage:  Peter is still speaking to the crowd that has gathered on the day of Pentecost.  “Jesus who performed miracles was handed over to you for God’s pre-ordained purpose.  You killed him by nailing him to a cross.  But God has raised him from the dead.  David himself prophesied Jesus’ resurrection when he said he saw the ‘Holy One’ at the Lord’s right hand and raised him from the dead.”

It’s as if Peter is shouting, “Even though you idiots killed Jesus He is alive!”

10a) Accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through him

b)  Jesus was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross

c)  God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him

11)  From the beginning of time, Jesus was a gift from God to the people, a sacrifice for our sins, for God’s purpose of having mankind with Him

12a)  you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross

b)  They chose (free will) to reject Jesus and kill Him so they were responsible.  Pilate gave the people the option of saving Jesus or saving Barabbas and they chose Barabbas, NOT Jesus.  Pilate said, “I am innocent of this man’s blood.  It is your responsibility.  All the people answered, “Let his blood be on us and on our children.”  Matthew 27:15-26

Conclusions:  Straight-forward questions today.  Peter basically says, “Look, you killed Jesus, the Son of the One, True God but there is hope because God has raised Jesus.  All is not lost.”
