Hey all!
I hope you all are having a fun, restful Memorial Day weekend!
In today’s coffee talk, solitude is on my heart.
I’ve been spending a lot of time alone lately, working out alone and in the house alone, since my kids are now older and spending more time with their friends. I’ve truly enjoyed these days (today is one of those days) where the house is silent, and it’s just me, the dogs, and the cats. And God. He’s always here.
SELF REFLECTION
I’ve found these days are great days to reflect on where you’re at in your life, where you want to go, what your goals and aspirations are, are you heading in the right direction, do you need to pivot, and what do you need to do in order to create where you want to be. Self-reflection is something we all need to do regularly in order to check in with ourselves and our goals.
For me, I’ve been thinking about leaving my job and putting my whole efforts into this blog, my other blogs, and a blogging business. I like my job; it’s good. But I am still tied down to a chair for 8 hours a day, and it’s starting to get to me. I like to be able to go on hikes with the kids when I want to, go to the gym when I want to, go to doctor’s appointments during the day, and go to the grocery store when it’s empty.
Furthermore, I work hard at my job, but I’m building someone else’s business. I want to build my business for the next 20 years; I want to do God’s work for me, not for someone else.
That’s been what I’ve been reflecting on lately.
What about you? Where are you at with life, with God, with your family, and with your purpose?
I have two older teens that will soon leave the nest, and an almost ten-year-old. I look forward to expanding my writing career and getting back to my first love, writing children’s books, when they are on their own.
Dear ATOZMOM(M),
I love your blog, especially the Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) postings. I’ll have to look at some of your other blog subjects in the future. Thanks for all your efforts, and for helping us come closer to God and His Word. Dennis H.
I haven’t had a full time job in many years. I now collect my pension and Social Security so I don’t have to work. I lived alone for quite a few years after my husband died and I found that I really enjoyed it most of the time. Now, however, my disabled daughter and my granddaughter live with me so I really don’t have any alone time. God lives here too, but He is a comfort to me. I am spending much more time with Him now am am really loving getting to know Him better. I would encourage you to quit work and spend more time with your family if you can afford it. Life is short. Thanks for your posts. I really enjoy reading all of them. I consider you to be in my BSF small group because of your study blogs. God bless you
Downsizing to a condo after over fifty years at the same address, sixty years of marriage, and over eighty years of life on this object we call earth. We’re pitching and packing. Rest of household going to family, friends, and whomever will take it.
I enjoy reading your blog. I stumbled on it while looking for more information to supplement my BSF study this year. My husband and I just spent a few days last week thinking about our purpose and doing what we were created to do. He was strongly encouraging me to start an inspirational blog, so I’ve been thinking a lot lately about faith vs. action. Thoughts?
sounds great! do keep me posted!
