BSF Study Questions John’s Gospel: The Truth Lesson 12, Day 5: John 8:48-59 and Exodus 3:12-15

SUMMARY OF JOHN 8:48-59

Those who obey Jesus’ word will never see death. People begin to insult Jesus, claiming he is demon-possessed. Jesus claimed he was greater than Abraham, that he existed before Abraham, and that he’s the I am. The people tried to stone him, but Jesus got away.

Exodus 3:12-15

God sent Moses to the people to rescue them from Egypt. God says He is “I am.”

BSF Study Questions John’s Gospel: The Truth Lesson 12, Day 5: John 8:48-59 and Exodus 3:12-15

13a) Those who believe in Jesus will have eternal life.

b) Abraham rejoiced at Jesus’ saving grace.

14a) This means that Jesus is equal with God, existed before Creation, and is part of God. It means He is God and all should worship him and believe in him.

b) All the difference. With Jesus, life is good. Without Jesus, life is unbearable.

Conclusions BSF Study Questions John’s Gospel: The Truth Lesson 12, Day 5: John 8:48-59 and Exodus 3:12-15

I love the “I am’s” in the Bible, and I love how Jesus is equal with God and he says so.

End Notes BSF Study Questions John’s Gospel: The Truth Lesson 12, Day 5: John 8:48-59 and Exodus 3:12-15

The people insult Jesus. Still, he says belief in him brings eternal life. Yet, the religious leaders still twist his words and try to trap him, asking him if he is greater than Abraham.

Jesus says he knows God and is honored by God (not self-honor).

Abraham knew Jesus to be greater.

Now Jesus claims to be God, the great I am, the way God called himself in Exodus.

Fun Fact: This is the third time in this chapter Jesus uses the phrase I AM (John 8:248:28)

This is a clear divine title that all Jews would recognize as such.

Jesus says he has existed eternally. He declared that he is God.

This was blasphemous in the eyes of the religious leaders. They looked to stone Jesus, but he escaped. His time had not yet come. (John 7:30).

Exploring God’s Character: People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided: Day Six

I experience God’s endless grace every day of my life. In the small moments when I get mad over stupid things and in the big moments, too. I am struggling to be less selfish and pray for that. I try to be there for others and not be so caught up in what I want to do always. I make progress, but it’s slow.

I am grateful to God for His grace and forgiveness. In fact, I couldn’t live without it.

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of 1 John: Week 1, Day 3: 1 John 1:5-7

Summary of 1 John 1:5-7

God is light; there is no darkness in Him. If we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another. Jesus’s blood purifies us.

Questions for 1 John 1:5-7

6) “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” Jesus declared himself light in John 8:12 and whoever follows him will never walk in darkness, but have the light of life or eternal life. You cannot walk in light and in darkness at the same time. You have to leave darkness to enter the light; you have to accept Jesus’ sacrifice for you.

7) False claim: You cannot claim to have fellowship and walk in darkness; you don’t live by the truth then. Instead, true evidence is to walk in the light or living by God’s truths.

8 ) Follow God’s Word and decrees, repent of sin, do your best to be like Jesus and grow like him a little bit more with each passing day. When you live by God’s truth, your life is light and everyone will be able to see what God has done for you. Those who live in darkness choose to be evil and they hate the light/Jesus.

Conclusions to WordGo Study of 1 John 1:5-7

God is light, and He brought light into our world when He created the heavens and the earth. Light represents God’s holiness, His perfection, His righteousness, and His goodness. Light is eternal life.

When you walk in God’s light, you repent of your old ways and walk in God’s ways. Jesus’ blood cleanses us, so we can be in the light, too!

“I am weary, God, but I can prevail.” Every word of God is flawless. He is our shield to take refuge.

Summary of Proverbs 31

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

A wife of noble character is worth far more than rubies. She lacks nothing of value. She brings her husband good. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. Her lamp does not go out at night. She helps the poor. Her children arise and call her blessed. Woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Wisdom: Week 1, Day 5: 1 Kings 3:28 with 4:29-34

Summary of 1 Kings 3:28

All knew God had given wisdom to Solomon with this verdict.

Summary of 1 Kings 4:29-34

God gave Solomon wisdom greater than everyone, and his fame spread. He spoke 3,000 proverbs and wrote 1,005 songs. He spoke about the plants and animals. All nations came to Solomon to hear his wisdom.

Questions for 1 Kings 3:28 with 4:29-34

12) All nations came to hear his wisdom no matter their religion. This shows just how big of an influence he had on the world.

13) The world applauds fame, fortune, sports heros, and celebrities. They don’t applaud wise rulers full of the Lord. This is due to the fact the world has fallen away from God and due to modern technology and the 24-hour news reel.

14) To thank God continually for the knowledge He has given me (unsure if you’d call it wisdom. I don’t feel wise).

Conclusions to Wordgo Study of Wisdom 1 Kings 3:28 with 4:29-34

God calls us to where we need to be to glorify Him. You may not be feeling this way at all and may be disliking where you are at in this moment. Remember to pray, and wait on the Lord. He is faithful, and He does put you where you belong.
