REFLECTION QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 11:1,6

15) Jesus is greater than everyone, including angels. Jesus is our High Priest and the only way to God. Christ’s sacrifice is for all if you have faith. God disciplines us for our good. Must persevere.

16) God is good. He has a plan. We have faith in his plan.

CONCLUSIONS TO WEEK 4 AND ALL OF WORDGO’S STUDY OF HEBREWS

Great book to re-read. Great nuggets of encouragement, and great truths about God that we can hold onto. I’m liking these short studies.

RELECTION QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 11-13

13) Gosh, faith, hope, and love. Such huge concepts for such small words. Faith in Jesus as the Savior. Hope for the future as you persevere. Love for others. Perpetual concepts I’m always working on.

14) I can see God in the past and in how my life has turned out. I hope for the future to be the same way.

If you struggle with these big concept questions like I do, just pray. As you grow closer to God, these should become clearer.

SUMMARY OF HEBREWS 13

Love each other as brothers. Do not forget strangers or prisoners. Stay pure in marriage. Be content with what you have. Remember your leaders. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Ignore strange teachings. Jesus made us holy through his blood. Continually praise God. Do good, share wtih others, obey your leaders, and pray for others.

May God equip us with everything good for doing his will and may he work in us what is pleasing to him.

QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 13

SUMMARY OF HEBREWS 12

Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus who endured the cross and sat down at God’s right hand.

The Lord disciplines those He loves and punishes everyone He accepts as a son. Endure hardship as discipline for God is treating you as a son.  For if you are not disciplines then you are not sons of God.  Everyone is disciplined.  God disciplines us for our good so we may share in His holiness.

Discipline is never pleasant, but it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace. Make every effort to live in peace and be holy; without holiness, no one sees the Lord. Do not be bitter. Do not be sexually amoral or sell your inheritance for a meal like Esau.

You have come to the city of the living God. You have come to God and to Jesus, the mediator of the New Covenant. Let us be thankful we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and let us worship God reverently.

I see this as discipline is part of having God as our Father. Jesus endured it and so must we. But there is an eternal kingdom waiting for us.

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Hebrews: Week 4, Day 2: Hebrews 11:17-40

SUMMARY OF HEBREWS 11:17-40

Abraham had faith that God would raise Isaac from the dead if he sacrified him. By faith, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, and Jacob blessed each of Joseph’s sons. Joseph spoke of the Exodus from faith, and Moses’s parents hid him out of faith.

By faith, Moses chose to leave Egypt and be mistreated along with the people of God. His disgrace for Christ was of greater value than material rewards. He persevered and kept the Passover. The people of God crossed the Red Sea out of faith, and the walls of Jericho fell out of faith. Rahab was preserved out of faith.

By faith, countless others followed and conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained God’s promises. Some were tortured and flogged; others were stoned and killed. God has planned a way for them to be made perfect.

QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 11:17-40

4 ) They all do, really. I like Rahab because she was a Gentile who had faith. Abraham was about to kill his son so that’s incredible there, too.

5 ) Faith that all barriers will be removed in my walk in God’s will.

6 ) Keep doing the right thing and putting one foot in front of the other.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO HEBREWS 11:17-40

The pillars of faith are listed here, from Abraham to the prophets and the countless others who suffered for Christ. Very inspiring. Very humbling. And very encouraging to keep doing God’s will in your life.

SUMMARY OF HEBREWS 11:1-14

Faith is being sure of what you cannot see and what you hope for. Faith is what allows us to believe God created the heavens and the earth. By faith, Abel offered God better sacrifices than Cain. By faith, God took Enoch away so he didn’t experience death.

You have to have faith to please God. Noah built an ark out of faith and thus became heir of the righteous. By faith Abraham left Ur to go where God told him to go. He and his sons became heirs of the promised land and had children and many descendants. They did not receive their inheritance while living; only after death.

QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 11:1-14

1 ) Faith is being sure of what you cannot see and what you hope for. Faith is believing Jesus is the son of God, granting us forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation. People today think of faith as having trust in someone or something. Faith is having trust but it’s believing in the unseen that is the difference.

2 ) Faith is doing things you believe is in God’s will even though you have no idea of the consequences or what lies ahead like Abraham. Moving somewhere else in the country or doing something out of a calling. I think it’s very similar today as it was in Jesus’s time.

3 ) I like the example of Noah the best — building an ark when people thought he was crazy. My prayer is to keep following the ways of God even though they don’t make sense to me or to anyone around me.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO HEBREWS 11:1-14

Another classic passage that is super important to the Christian faith. Having faith is simply believing in a God unseen. Seems simple, but so many people miss God this way.

15) God puts you where He wants you. Opportunities open up, and you walk through them.

16) “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will recevie what he has promised.” Hebrews 10:36

REFLECTION QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 8-10

13) God’s intentions were from the beginning and were/are perfect. His story in the Bible is the story of the world. The Old Covenant was always meant to be temporary until Jesus came.

14) There’s always hope to find Jesus. Once unbelievers find him, all of their sins will be forgiven.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO HEBREWS 8-10

Very powerful chapters showing Jesus as our High Priest, the one and only perfect sacrifice to take away our sins. Love the perseverance part.

SUMMARY OF HEBREWS 10

The law cannot make people perfect. The blood of animals cannot take away our sins. Jesus did away with the Old Covenent and ushered in the New Covenant so that we will be made holy. The priests’ sacrifices cannot take away sins, except for Jesus who takes away all sin and makes perfect all of us forever by his one sacrifice.

The law now lives in our hearts and minds. We are entretated to persevere in faith and hope, as well as meet together. The writer warns to give up sinning deliberately or face judgement. When you do the will of God, you will receive what He promised.

QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 10

10) Jesus only had to make one sacrifice; whereas the priests had to make many. Jesus’s sacrifice is perfect, cleansing us of our sins forever; the priests’ sacrifices cleansed us only temporarily.

11) To maintain faith and hope in God, keep meeting with others, and draw near to God.

12) When you do the will of God, you will receive what He promised. (verse 36) Many of us wonder when we’ll be rewarded for doing God’s will. He promises he will reward us.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO HEBREWS 10

The act of Jesus sitting down means it is finished; we are cleansed forever. The priests in Old Testament times never sat down because their work was never done. Super important to realize that Christ’s work is finished, and we, as God’s people, are set free.

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Hebrews: Week 3, Day 3: Hebrews 9:11-28

SUMMARY OF HEBREWS 9:11-28

Christ is the mediator of the new covenant. He entered the Most Holy Place by his own blood that offered eternal redemption. The blood of Christ cleanses us inwardly and outwardly. We are now set free from our sins and able to inherit eternal life.

The Old Covenant required that everything has to be cleansed with blood in order to be forgiven. He offered himself one time as the eternal sacrifice. He will appear a second time to bring salvation to those who await him.

QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 9:11-28

7) Christ is the mediator of the new covenant. He entered the Most Holy Place by his own blood that offered eternal redemption. The blood of Christ cleanses us inwardly and outwardly. We are now set free from our sins and able to inherit eternal life. It’s important because it gives us eternal life, which the Old Covenant could not do.

8 ) Immeasurable gratitude. A desire to be like him. An acceptance of his sacrifice for my sins.

9) Jesus offers the New Covenant to us by his one sacrifice for us all. It is received by those who accept his sacrifice on the cross for us and who believe in him.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO HEBREWS 9;11-28

Christ died once for us for our eternal inheritance. When you grasp that fact, nothing else in your world — none of your problems — matters.
