I’ve been asked many, many times over the years what Bible Commentaries I use. A Bible Commentary is an explanation of what a passage in the Bible is saying, usually written by a Bible scholar. In this blog post, I’ll share. Contact me today with questions!
THE BEST BIBLE COMMENTARIES
- Matthew Henry. Matthew Henry was a minister in the late 1600s and early 1700s who is best known for his six-volume Bible commentary written in 1706. Easy searches online will pull up his words, or for the full version, check it out here: https://www.biblestudytools.com/commentaries/matthew-henry-complete/
- Moody Bible Commentary. If you’re looking for a Bible Commentary written by a bunch of people, try out Moody’s Bible Commentary. Written in an easy to understand way and covers all the books of the Bible succinctly. You can find it here: https://www.moodypublishers.com/books/bible-study-and-reference/the-moody-bible-commentary/
- The MacArthur Bible Commentary. Similar to Moody’s, the MacArthur Bible Commentary is a non-technical passage-by-passage examination of the whole Bible. You can find it here: https://brandonacox.com/best-bible-commentaries/
- New Bible Commentary: 21st Century Edition. As concise as a Bible Commentary gets, the New Bible Commentary covers all 66 books in a concise manner. It can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/New-Bible-Commentary-Gordon-Wenham/dp/0830814426
These are my top recommendations for commentaries that cover the entire Bible. When I’m studying the Bible, I usually Google. It pulls up the exact references, quickly and easily. Let me know how I can help!
