SUMMARY OF HEBREWS 8
Jesus is our high priest who serves in the true tabernacle of our Lord. Every high priest offers gifts and sacrifices. Jesus’s ministry is superior to the high priests’ on earth and is founded on better promises.
There was something wrong with the first covenant (it wasn’t perfect) so a new one was needed unlike the Old Covenant. Instead of being in writing, the laws of God will lay in our hearts and our minds. God will be our God, and we will be his people. We will be all be able to know God. God will forgive our sins and not remember them. The first covenant is obsolete.
QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 8
1 ) A covenant is an agreement. In the secular world, it’s a contract between two parties, like ina marriage. Biblically speaking, the covenants where God is involved is his promises made to humanity. We see many covenants in the Bible that God makes with His people, from Noal to Jesus’s death and resurrection. They can be present in our lives anywhere, such as marriage or the promises we make to others. The other person expects you to uphold your word and do what you say you will do.
2) The laws of God will lay in our hearts and our minds. God will be our God, and we will be his people. We will be all be able to know God. God will forgive our sins and not remember them.
3 ) Without Jesus and God’s promises, there would be little hope in the world and in my life. There are a lot of people who need to hear God’s promises in my life.
CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO HEBREWS 8
I love Hebrews 8:10 but switch the pronouns as if God were talking to me: “I will be your God, and you will be my people.” Magic. The Hebrews writer brings his teachings together nicely here by saying that Jesus ushers in a new covenant forever.
