SUMMARY OF MATTHEW 28:5-10

The angel addressed the women, telling them that Jesus has risen like he said he would. He is not there. He tells them to come inside and see the empty tomb then to go and tell the disciples that Jesus has risen and is going to Galilee.

The women did as they were told, afraid but full of joy. Jesus met them on their way to the disciples. They clasped his feet and worshipped him. They he told them to go to his brothers and go to Galilee where they will see him.

Questions for Matthew 28:5-10

6) When the women encountered the angel, they were afraid. He told them to not be afraid and go and tell the others. They obeyed. When the women encountered Jesus, they ran to him and clasped his feet. They worshipped him. He told them to not be afraid and told them to go and tell the others.

7) It’s in human nature to fear what we don’t understand. I am excited by Jesus’ presence, but I’d probably be afraid if he appeared at first. I’d be happy!

8 ) The entire Bible and creation points to Jesus and his salvation of humanity. When you understand what Jesus’ death meant, you can know God. It gives us hope as we live our life with its ups and downs that God has a plan and it will come to fruition. It allows us to have eternal life with the Father.

Christ’s resurrection gives us power to live a Christian life. Otherwise, we’d be in perpetual fear, sadness, dismay, and sin. Hold fast to Jesus always and forever.
