Don’t Quit BSF

Hey all!

Right about now is the time many people leave BSF (Bible Study Fellowship).

This is for many reasons:

  • Life gets busy
  • You lack time
  • You are being taken out of your comfort zone by God
  • Doing your BSF lessons is daunting
  • The Bible passages are too long
  • You are struggling and bitter against God
  • The weather is cold
  • It’s just “one more thing to do”
  • And dozens of other reasons

I’m here to tell you that I’m feeling this way, too. Thirty weeks of Bible Study is hard, rough, challenging, and tiring. You are growing with God, but you often don’t feel like you are. And, in the midst of life’s struggles, sometimes we don’t want to hear from God (when that’s exactly the time we need to hear from Him).

But, despite all of this, hang in there. You’ll get over the hump, and you’ll be glad you stuck with it.

Go to class without your lesson completed. Soak up the lecture. Or, do your lesson and skip class and the lecture for a week if getting out is too hard.

Whatever you do, just keep at it. God will reward your work!

  1. Great advice! Each time that I want to go, I am glad that I did. I found encouragement from ladies that were also struggling.

  2. BSF is a spiritual feast!! When I can’t sleep, it’s a time I get up and work on my lesson. A quiet time to spend in the word with no distractions. Even th we dog is asleep.

  3. Goodness dear sister, you sounds like St Paul inHebrews12:1, 10:36, Galatians 6:9, 1 Cor 15:58 and when I combine it with Rev 3:11-12 the message of Jesus to Philadelphia, their is no way to get out of it. Thanks for the encouragement! – I NEED it.

  4. It is hard when we are over sea, the time is different but thank God we can watch lecture on you tube and
Able to read noted on line , the problem Zoom . Unable to connect that well .

  5. Amen, sister! I am a group leader and have several ladies who are taking a short-term leave from BSF due to health, car and other issues. I contact them and am very encouraging about the blessings they will receive by doing their lesson, listening to the lecture and discussing the lesson with the group, whose hearts the Lord is knitting together. Thank you for encouraging your people too!!

  6. I wish I could meet you in person, you are so encouraging! Thank you for the great learning tools you provide, and His name I send you love comfort and peace!

  7. I absolutely love BSF and have been attending for more than a decade. In my area a dangerous trend has been happening where they are collocating men and women in the same church at the same time. To me this defeats the purpose and effectiveness of the study. Two years down the road they plan to mix men and women’s discussion groups and lectures. This will be just like church. You can’t have the same sharing and relationships if men and women are co-located or mixed. Couples will sit together and single people and widow/widowers will be alienated. Relationships won’t form the same with other group members. You will also have the same problems that a church has. As much as I love BSF I will quit if they co-locate or mix my group.
