You may be confused by the separation of the Northern Kingdom (Israel) from the Southern Kingdom (Judah). Keep these tips in mind to avoid getting hopelessly lost.
Tips to Keep The Kings and Kingdoms Straight
- Israel is the breakaway kingdom formed from 10 tribes. Its capital is Samaria. Every single one of its rulers does evil in the eyes of the Lord and are unfaithful to God.
- Judah is the Southern Kingdom of two tribes: Benjamin and Judah. Jerusalem is its capital. Some of Judah’s rulers who are the descendants of David will remain faithful to God.
- There are 39 rulers between them during this time and our study.
- There are a couple dozen prophets.
