BSF Study Questions John’s Gospel: The Truth Lesson 29, Day 5: Review & Reflect on Jesus’s Death and Resurrection

BSF Study Questions John’s Gospel: The Truth Lesson 29, Day 5: Review & Reflect on Jesus’s Death and Resurrection

11) Jesus’ steadfast acceptance of his duty and his determination to see it through to the end. He is calm and collected throughout the entire ordeal — his “trials,” torture, and death. It’s incredibly hard to grasp it all, but it deepens my love for Christ and the sacrifices he made for me.

12a) Jesus was the final sacrifice for our sins. His resurrection proves his victory over sin since death is the consequence of sin. His victory over the power of sin, and his victory over the consequences of sin. If Jesus had not risen from the dead, we would still be held captive to sin (1 Corinthians 15:17)

b) It has given me greater insight into the super importance of the resurrection and how it means I am free from sin. Jesus went through a lot to save all of us, and for that I’m eternally grateful.

c) It gives me hope in the days when I have little. It gives me peace when those around me die that I will one day be with them and see them again.

13) The care that Nicodemus and Joseph took with Jesus’ body. It was worshipping him in such a special and beautiful way.

14) No matter our sins, Jesus forgives us. There truly is no more powerful message in the Bible. With Jesus, there’s a way. When you declare your faith in Jesus, it gives hope to others.

BSF Study Questions John’s Gospel: The Truth Lesson 29, Day 4: Review & Reflect on Jesus’s Love for His Disciples

BSF Study Questions John’s Gospel: The Truth Lesson 29, Day 4: Review & Reflect on Jesus’s Love for His Disciples

9a)

John 13:1-17: Jesus washed his disciples feet not only to wash their feet and do something nice for them but to also give them an example of how to treat others.

John 14:1-4: Jesus prepares a place for his disciples (and all believers) in heaven. This is an eternal investment.

John 14:15-21: Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit (and to all believers) to help guide them and be with them all the days of their lives. They will feel Jesus’ presence and love every day, too.

John 16:1-5: Jesus reveals what will happen to the disciples in the future (aka persecution and rejection) so that they will be prepared for it.

b) It reveals not only his love for his disciples, but also his love for all people since the disciples were the ones entrusted to spread the Good News to the ends of the earth.

c) He has kept me faithful, able to do each week as it comes. He has grown my Biblical knowledge and my spiritual knowledge. Ultimately, the more time I have spent with Him, the closer I grew.

10a) He loves us infinitely. He prays for our protection, our sanctification through the Word and through him, that we can have his glory and be one with God the Father, have unity, and that everyone will know how much Jesus loves us. It reveals that there is no greater love in all of existence.

b) It encourages me to pray this prayer, to believe this prayer is for me, to believe in Jesus’ love for me, to study his Word, and to remember we have God’s glory within us every day of our lives. It can be hard to remember Jesus’ love for me in the midst of sorrow, so this helps.

BSF Study Questions John’s Gospel: The Truth Lesson 29, Day 2: Review & Reflect on John’s Prologue

BSF Study Questions John’s Gospel: The Truth Lesson 29, Day 2: Review & Reflect on John’s Prologue

3) Light symbolizes God and His Kingdom. The darkness is Satan and his domain. The Word, which is Jesus. Children of God as those who believe in Jesus and gain everlasting life. All are meaningful to me.

4) Jesus is the Word (verse 1). He has existed from the beginning (verse 2). He gives all of us life (verse 4). He is the light of the world (verse 4). Those who believe in him become children of God (verse 12). He became flesh to be with us (verse 14). Through Jesus, we can see God’s glory (verse 18).

5a) John the Baptist testified to who Jesus was (the Lamb of God). Disciples followed Jesus (Andrew and Simon Peter and Philip and Nathanael).

b) Many people, when they heard who Jesus was, followed him. Today, it’s the same. Jesus continues to touch lives in miraculous ways.

6) Only God has the power to save us, so it’s fitting that we believe in a God (aka Jesus) who saves us.
