SUMMARY OF MATTHEW 5:31-37
Jesus says that the only reason for divorce is unfaithfulness. Otherwise, if you divorce, if you remarry, you will be committing adultery. Jesus says there is not a need for an oath at all since your word should be strong enough.
Questions for Matthew 5:31-37
9) We uphold the Bible’s standards for marriage and don’t compromise based on society’s rules. We teach this to others, and we live this in our own marriages. We help those going through divorce. We can pray for them, listen, and help in any way we can. Many innocents are hurt through divorce, like children, so we must help in any way we can.
10) It is important that we follow through by doing what we say we will do. However, Christians don’t need to swear an oath; your word should be good enough. I find it more difficult to keep my word when it’s something I don’t want to do.
11) It’s important to know God’s word and use it throughout your days to stay pure and walk in God’s ways. When we know God’s words, we can speak it better.
