Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Philippians: Confident in Christ: Week 1, Day 4: Philippians 1:7-8

Summary of Philippians 1:7-8

Paul defends his love for the Philippians and their union in Christ.

Questions for Philippians 1:7-8

9) Paul has the Philippians in his heart (he loves them), and all of them share in God’s grace with him.

10) We all have the Holy Spirit inside of us. This is a gift from Christ and a source of power for us. We are justified by faith. We are sanctified by Christ as we grow more like him every day. Grace alone allows us to love one another. Otherwise, our sinful nature would always have an ulterior motive. Grace is our model for love. It transforms the human heart. And, it allows us to love in difficult circumstances.

11) Most likely. Sometimes, it’s hard enough just to work on my spiritual growth, let alone others’. With love and grace, we can help others, too!

Conclusions to WordGo Philippians: Confident in Christ, Philippians 1:7-8

We should all look at others (especially believers) with grace. We should pray for others to grow closer to Christ. We should pray for others’ journey to Christ.

We should just pray!

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Philippians: Confident in Christ: Week 1, Day 3: Philippians 1:6

Summary of Philippians 1:6

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Paul proclaims that God will complete His Work in the Philippians.

Questions for Philippians 1:6

6) That God will complete His work in the Philippians. He bases this certainty on the character of Christ.

7) God begins His good work in a person at the moment they accept Jesus into their hearts as Lord and Savior. God continues this work by giving us His purposes for our lives.

8 ) Yes. I’d say He’s been prompting me more to do His work and to help others more, rather than be selfish.

Conclusions to WordGo Philippians: Confident in Christ, Philippians 1:6

God works in us so that we can complete the work He gives us to do. God uses the Holy Spirit within us to produce a responding faith.

God does it all; we do nothing. We cannot overcome sin without God’s grace.

God always finishes what He begins, which includes the works in us.

When we doubt, we know that God will do it. Rest in that!

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Hosea: Week 2, Day 6: Hosea 14:4

Passage: Hosea 14:4

“I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them.”

Reflection Questions for Hosea 14:4

15) We all wander from God in small ways on a daily basis. We must be more cognizant of when we do so that we can grow with God.

16) There is always hope in Jesus, and no matter your sins, He still wants all of you.

Conclusions to Week 2 and the Study of Hosea

Great study! Although Hosea is mostly bleak, there is always hope. Although God’s people are slow to learn, they do learn and turn back to Him. This should encourage us to turn to God no matter our sins. Will you trust Him?

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Hosea: Week 2, Day 5: Hosea 14

Summary of Hosea 14

When Israel repents, God will restore them. It’s that simple. God’s anger will turn from them.

Questions for Hosea 14

12) Israel is to ask God for forgiveness, realize Assyria cannot save them, and give up their idols. In return, God will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for His anger has turned away from them.

13) Israel will be like the dew to Israel; they will blossom like a lily. Like a cedar of Lebanon, he will send down his roots; his young shoots will grow. His splendor will be like an olive tree, his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon. People will dwell again in his shade; they will flourish like the grain, they will blossom like the vine — Israel’s fame will be like the wine of Lebanon.

14) If you are wise and discerning, you will walk in the ways of the Lord, which are righteous and true. Otherwise, you will stumble.

Conclusions to WordGo’s Study of Hosea 14

God always has a plan of restoration and redemption. He pursues everyone with passion. Will you accept it for your life?

Summary of Hosea 9

Hosea announces the punishments against Israel.

Summary of Hosea 10

Despite Israel’s past fruit, their hearts are deceitful and now they must bear their guilt and suffer the consequences.

Summary of Hosea 11

God still loves Israel despite their sins and the fact they turn away from Him.

Summary of Hosea 12

For Israel’s sins, they will be punished.

Summary of Hosea 13

The Lord is angry against Israel for their sins. He has no compassion for them.

Questions for Hosea 8-13

9) Hosea 8:1-5: The people have broken God’s covenant and rebelled against His law. Israel has rejected what is good. An enemy will pursue Him. They set up kings without my consent; they chose princes without my approval. With their silver and gold, they make idols for themselves to their destruction. God would offer consequences.

Hosea 10:1-2: As Israel’s fruit increased, they built more altars. The Lord will demolish their altars and destroy their sacred stones.

Hosea 13:2-3: Israel makes idols and offers human sacrifices. God will make them disappear.

10) When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt, I called my son. I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love. To them, I was like one who lifts a little child to the cheek, and I bent down to feed them.

11) It humbles me, makes me extremely grateful, fills me with joy and compassion, and helps me get through life’s struggles.

Conclusions to WordGo’s Study of Hosea 8-13

God does not want to hand out punishments to His people. Yet, He must because they stray. He still calls to Israel to return to Him. He yearns to convict us of our sins, so we’ll turn to Him. Will you?

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Hosea: Week 2, Day 3: Hosea 6-7

Summary of Hosea 6

Hosea calls Israel to repentance, proclaiming God’s faithfulness and exposing their sin. Yet, Israel remains unrepentant despite Hosea listing how God will heal and restore them.

Summary of Hosea 7

The Israelites still practice deceit and sin. They are adulterers. Their kings do not call upon the Lord. They turn to foreign nations rather than the Lord. Destruction to them! The Lord wants to redeem them, but He cannot because of their sins.

Questions for Hosea 6-7

6) Any time you put things in front of God, idols and others. He expresses His great love for us when He picks us up, guides us, and protects us.

7) Israel turned to other countries rather than God, including Egypt, Assyria, and idols. The consequences included Israel’s leaders falling by the sword and the people ridiculed.

8 ) Hosea 6:6: God desired mercy and love. God wanted to redeem his people. Hosea 7:13: God found Israel like fresh grapes and early figs. Hosea 9:10: However, the people desecrated themselves with idols.  Hosea 13:4: God has been Israel’s God since bringing them out of Egypt. They shall acknowledge no one else, and He deserves their wholehearted devotion.

Conclusions to WordGo’s Study of Hosea 6-7

The Israelites insincerely turn to God rather than have humble, heartfelt worship. Yet, the people still rebelled. God desires our sincere repentance. Will you repent today?

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Hosea: Week 2, Day 2: Hosea 4-5

Summary of Hosea 4

Hosea warns the Israelites of what is to come, declaring God’s charges against Israel. There is no faithfulness, love, or acknowledgment of God in the land, only evil. So the land will dry up and all who live in it will waste away. The Israelites have rejected knowledge, so God has rejected them.

Summary of Hosea 5

Hosea prophesies judgment against Israel. They have rebelled against God and are unfaithful, and He will punish them.

Questions for Hosea 4-5

3) In Hosea 4:1-4, there is no faithfulness, love, or acknowledgment of God in the land, only cursing, lying, murder, stealing, adultery, and bloodshed. So the land will dry up and all who live in it will waste away. The beasts of the field, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea will be swept away. In Hosea 5:4-6, their deeds don’t allow them to return to God. They do not acknowledge God because a spirit of prostitution is in their hearts. They are arrogant and stumble in their sins. As a consequence, when they seek the Lord, they will not find Him. He has withdrawn Himself from them.

4) By allowing me to suffer the consequences of my sins, I draw closer to Him because I know He is right.

5) Cussing, wronging others, being selfish. They challenge me to be more like Jesus and to turn to Him.

Conclusions to WordGo’s Study of Hosea 4-5

Decay and idol worship only lead to God’s judgment. Consequences work to restore us to Jesus. Remember, God cannot abide in sin. He draws us back to Him when we sin with the consequences from sin.
