Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of 1 John: Week 1, Day 1: 1 John 1:1-2:2

Summary of 1 John 1

God was from the beginning, and we proclaim to you (Christians) what we have seen and heard so that you can have faith, too.

God is light; there is no darkness in Him. If we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another. Jesus’s blood purifies us.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful, just, and will forgive us and purify us.

Summary of 1 John 2:1-2

Try not to sin, but if you do, we have Jesus, who will atone for our sins.

Questions for 1 John 1:1-2:2

1 ) Fellowship with other Christians and with God, the Father. By accepting Jesus as our atoning sacrifice.

2 ) “We proclaim to you”, “If we claim”

Conclusions to WordGo Study of 1 John 1:1-2:2

1 John shows God as the sourse of power in the Christian life. Note how John defines a word, discusses its opposite, then describes what a life in that word should look like. Do note that John the Apostle is attributed as author of this book due to the style; Bible scholars are not 100% sure as no where does it say who the author is.

Loved the reminder to walk in the light and to accept Jesus as our Savior. Great, great stuff!

The content of this book is to the first and second generations of Christians who were going astray from the meaning of the New Testament teachings. They thought that there would be no sin in your life if you were a Christian.  John sets the record straight by saying how imperfect people can have eternal life and be with God through His Son, Jesus. Christ is righteous and through him, we can be, too.

Look for the word “know,” which arises 105 times in 1 John (thank, BSF, for this fun fact!).

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Wisdom: Week 2, Day 6: Psalm 16:8

PASSAGE IN PSALM 16:8

“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

Psalm 16:8

REFLECTION QUESTIONS FOR PSALM 16:8

15) Those against the Lord will be judged; those for the Lord will be rewarded and saved. It’s a universal problem of sin that there is evil in the world, that bad things happen, and that there’s not a whole lot we can do about it except turn to God. God is the global solution. Trust in Him for all things, including for the state of the world.

16) This is a tough question because all of them had things that spoke to me. I’m gonna go with Psalm 22. I pray, Lord, that you guide my path and that it be your path. You know my heart’s desire, and I pray you help me make that come true. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

CONCLUSIONS TO WEEK 2 AND WORDGO’S STUDY OF THE PSALMS

Great readings in Psalms. Always there is doubt and evil, but God and Jesus win in the end, which is the greatest story ever told!

Summary of Psalm 1

Blessed is those who delight in God’s law and who meditates on it day and night. That person prospers. The wicked does not. The Lord watches over the way of the righteous.

Summary of Psalm 19

The heavens and earth proclaim God’s  glory to the world.  The sun is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber. God’s law is perfect and trustworthy. It brings joy and are more precious than gold and sweeter than honey. By keeping God’s law, there is great reward. Keep me from sinning.

Questions for Psalm 1 and 19

3 ) Images that come to mind are that of God’s creation: the sun, the moon, the heavens, and the stars. Spiritual music comes to mind. Music that is soft and uplifting.

4 ) The heavens declare God’s glory via the skies and nature. His Word reveals what is good and right. It is more precious than gold, sweeter than honey. It is perfect, pure, and radiant.

5 ) I am about to embark on a major goal that I believe is from God. I pray it is, and these psalms give me hope to delight in Him and His creation when I see it.

Conclusions to Wordgo Study of Wisdom Psalm 1 and 19

I love how God prospers His people; those who study His word and meditate on Him; those who see the heavens as His gift to us. What a gift to have the Holy Spirit within us, guiding us and bringing us closer to God each and every day, each and every step, each and every breath. How magnificent is He!

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Wisdom: Week 1, Day 5: 1 Kings 3:28 with 4:29-34

Summary of 1 Kings 3:28

All knew God had given wisdom to Solomon with this verdict.

Summary of 1 Kings 4:29-34

God gave Solomon wisdom greater than everyone, and his fame spread. He spoke 3,000 proverbs and wrote 1,005 songs. He spoke about the plants and animals. All nations came to Solomon to hear his wisdom.

Questions for 1 Kings 3:28 with 4:29-34

12) All nations came to hear his wisdom no matter their religion. This shows just how big of an influence he had on the world.

13) The world applauds fame, fortune, sports heros, and celebrities. They don’t applaud wise rulers full of the Lord. This is due to the fact the world has fallen away from God and due to modern technology and the 24-hour news reel.

14) To thank God continually for the knowledge He has given me (unsure if you’d call it wisdom. I don’t feel wise).

Conclusions to Wordgo Study of Wisdom 1 Kings 3:28 with 4:29-34

God calls us to where we need to be to glorify Him. You may not be feeling this way at all and may be disliking where you are at in this moment. Remember to pray, and wait on the Lord. He is faithful, and He does put you where you belong.

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Wisdom: Week 1, Day 4: 1 Kings 3:16-27

Summary of 1 Kings 3:16-27

Two prostitutes came to Solomon, asking him to make a ruling. Each woman claimed that the baby was theirs. Solomon ordered the baby cut in half and half given to each. The real mother said to give the baby to the other woman. The other woman said to kill the child. Obviously, the first woman was the real mother.

Questions for 1 Kings 3:16-27

9) We see a struggle for survival. Poverty. Struggle to have a baby. Quarrels and arguments. The need for a mediator (ultimately, Jesus Christ).

10) My next decision in my life.

11) God is the ultimate source to learn about wisdom, His Word, and the Holy Spirit. Wise leaders are next. Wise leaders from the past. James 3:13-18 says to let your good deeds show your wisdom. Heaven’s wisdom is pure, peace-loving and full of mercy and good fruit.

Conclusions to Wordgo Study of Wisdom 1 Kings 3:16-27

God gives wisdom to those who ask. Ask God for help in your struggles, work, and relationships. Pray for wisdom every day. Keep the lines of communication open with God always.

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Wisdom: Week 1, Day 3: 1 Kings 3:10-15

Summary of 1 Kings 3:10-15

God grants this unselfish request, saying there will never be anyone as wise. God gives Solomon what he did not ask for, too, which is wealth and honor. God will give him a long life if he follows Him. Solomon returned to Jerusalem and offered sacrifices.

Questions for 1 Kings 3:10-15

6) God is good, charitable, wants the best for us, generous, and kind.

7) Solomon was still human, and just because you are wise does not mean you are impervious to personal sin. Our true problem is obeying God’s commands in our personal lives and leaning on the God in order to do so.

8 ) A nice life. A great husband and family. Dear Lord, thank you for the life you have given me and the wonderful husband, children, and pets. We have a roof over our heads, food on the table, and extras. You are our ultimate Provider. Give me the faith to lean on you to get me to your next thing in my life. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Conclusions to Wordgo Study of Wisdom 1 Kings 3:10-15

God is gracious and gives out of abundance when none of us deserve it. Ask, and you will receive. Follow Him in all things.

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Wisdom: Week 1, Day 2: 1 Kings 3:1-9

Summary of 1 Kings 3:1-9

Solomon made an alliance with the king of Egypt and married his daughter. Solomon walked in the ways of the Lord, showing his love for God. God rewarded Solomon by telling him to ask for whatever he wants. Solomon asks for discernment.

Questions for 1 Kings 3:1-9

3 ) Solomon married the daughter of the king of Egypt. This is an unbelieving kingdom, so the daughter could turn Solomon away from the Lord eventually. Plus, partnering with Egypt can be a dangerous thing or a wise thing. Knowing the difference only comes through prayer and the Lord’s insight.

4 ) I try to do right and avoid the wrong. I try to follow the Bible’s teachings in my relationships. I try to do good.

5 ) Reveals his own wisdom, his faith in God, and his obedience to his father, David, and the call on his life. Unsure what I would ask. I would have to think about it. Hard.

Conclusions to Wordgo Study of Wisdom 1 Kings 3: 1-9

Solomon was wise in knowing he needed God in order to accomplish the monumental task of leading God’s people. I know I need God’s help. My question is: Am I wise enough to ask and heed? Contact me with questions today!
