REFLECTION QUESTIONS FOR RUTH 4:13

15 ) Praising God and renewed perspective. Just trying to gain clarity on what to do with my life. No biggie here. 🙂

16 ) Every day be more like Jesus to my family and those I encounter. Be less selfish is the big one.

CONCLUSIONS TO WEEK 4 AND WORDGO’S STUDY OF RUTH 4

It’s refreshing to read how a man will do anything for the one he wants and loves. Plus, we see that both Ruth and Naomi are cared for for the rest of their lives. This is refreshing, too, since nowadays, this can be a challenge, indeed. Seeing God’s plan come together is amazing testimony.

Many of us struggle to undestand the “whys” in our lives, and we often don’t know why until many years after the fact. The story of Ruth gives us comfort that God has a plan, and with faith in Him, it will all work out in the end. Great stuff! Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Ruth: Week 4, Day 5: Ruth 4:14-22

SUMMARY OF RUTH 4:14-22

Boaz and Ruth got married, and Ruth bore a son, Obed. Naomi was happy and helped care for the child. Obed was the father of Jesse, who was David’s father.

QUESTIONS FOR RUTH 4:14-22

12 ) God had a bigger plan for Naomi, and God had many more blessings in mind that would be delivered through her daughter-in-law. It emphasizes the love between the two women. Naomi now sees that her hardships were not without purpose.

13 ) God has a purpose that we cannot see or know. Everything happens for a reason, even the bad times. Whether they will be used to grow our faith in God or used to move us physically or spiritually in a new direction, only God knows. All we can do is have faith in God and His ways.

14 ) It gives me hope that despite my many sins, God still loves me and everyone else, even non-believers.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO RUTH 4:14-22

What a great study to end the summer on! After all, who doesn’t love a love story that has a happy ending that truthfully impacts us all with our Lord Jesus Christ?

SUMMARY OF RUTH 4:11-13

The elders proclaimed themselves witnesses to the deal of Boaz to be a kinsman-redeemer. They prayed for Ruth to be like Rachel and Leah and for their offspring to be like the family of Perez.

QUESTIONS FOR RUTH 4:11-13

9 ) They all have strong faith and love their community. They care for Boaz, Naomi, and now Ruth and only want the best for them. This shows they have a heart for God.

10 ) I try my best to pray for strangers. I could invite more family members to study the Bible.

11 ) Ruth now has a way to care for Naomi until her last days. God has given me a great life, and He continues to work in it, too. The possibilities are endless.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO RUTH 4:11-13

Isn’t it cool to see how God works and does all things for our good? The death of Naomi’s husband and sons brought her back to Bethlehem with Ruth so that Ruth could marry Boaz and be an ancestor of Jesus. What wonders! And to have such a supportive community. SUMMARY OF PSALM 103

A psalm of David. This psalm summarizes the goodness of God. David praises God for forgiving our sins, healing us, redeems us, and loves us. God satisfies our desires with good things. He is righteous and just. He is compassionate and gracious.

Man’s days are numbered, but God’s love is eternal and unbounded. His kingdom rules over all, and David praises that.

QUESTIONS FOR PSALM 103

6 ) Verse 5: God satisfies your desires with good things. Everything we get is good, from the food on our table to the roofs over our heads. It’s helpful to remember that we are eternally blessed by having the basic necessities in life.

7 ) To be honest, I don’t listen all that much to music anymore. When I do, it has a message that gives me hope and energy to keep pressing on.

8 ) God. The same reasons. God forgives us, redeems us, provides for us, and sends us good. He satisfies our desires, which can be hard to remember at times when you want something really bad and it hasn’t happened yet. I think all humans share in the hope of the Lord, of something better, of a brighter future, and of an easier day.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO RUTH BIBLE STUDY PSALM 103

The psalms of David are some of the most beautiful writings in the entire Bible. This psalm is full of praise and hope. Love it! Contact me with questions!

SUMMARY OF RUTH 4:1-10

Boaz heads to the town gate to wait for the closer kinsman-redeemer. When he appears, Boaz asks him to join him in a meeting with 10 elders of the town. He asks the kinsman-redeemer if he will redeem Naomi’s husband’s property. If not, he will. The man says he will redeem it. However, Boaz then tells him with the property come Naomi and Ruth.

The man changes his mind, saying he might endanger his own estate. Consequently, the man then took off his sandal in order to legalize the transaction. Boaz announces that he will redeem the property belonging to Naomi that was her husband’s and her sons’ and that he will take Ruth for his wife in order to maintain the name of the dead with the property.

QUESTIONS FOR RUTH 4:1-10

3 ) Redeem is reclaim; to purchase back; to ransom, to liberate, to deliver from bondage. Boaz must first offer the closer kinsman-redeemer the opportunity to redeem the land. He does this with witnesses in order to ensure the agreement is legal. When the other relative declines, Boaz must make sure all know he will be the redeemer instead.

4 ) Boaz does it by the book, ensuring there will be no questions in the future. He plans ahead.

5 ) The marriage is surprising because Ruth is a Moabite, a foreigner, and her people are despised by Israel. Her people are infidels and are thus shunned.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO RUTH 4:1-10

Boaz is meticulous in his plans. This is good and will yield no questions in the future. Given the fact that both will be in the line of Jesus, this is super important so that Jesus’s lineage is not questioned. This shows the wonder of God as he chooses a foreigner, a Gentile, to be in Jesus’s line. This shows our God cares more that you love Him than where you came from. Questions? Contact AtoZMom today!

SUMMARY OF RUTH 4

1 ) Those who seek God and follow God are rewarded with goodness. Both Naomi and Ruth had a heart for God, so God gave them the ultimate gift — ancestors of Jesus and a great life. God rewards all of us who seek him earnestly.

2 ) God works for our good. Life is good and full of joy, as are everything and everyone around us. It’s remembering how good God is in the times of sorrow that can get you through life.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO RUTH 4

Great lesson on how God works for our good in all things. I love how Boaz and Ruth live happily ever after, as does Naomi. Classic love tale that everyone loves with a happy ending and blessings all around. God’s rewards are rich, and we all are able to partake in them. Faith, love, hope, and compassion reign with God. “Who are you?” he asked. “I am your servant, Ruth,” she said. “Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a guardian-redeemer of our family.”

REFLECTION QUESTIONS FOR RUTH 3:9

15 ) I am struggling with work right now with pay cuts and the direction my company is heading. Trying to decide if a new job is the right path or not, and if so, what job.

16 ) It’s encouraging to see Ruth ask for what she wanted — a guardian redeemer in her life. It gives me courage to ask more for what I want and wait for God to answer.

CONCLUSIONS TO WEEK 3 AND WORDGO’S STUDY OF RUTH 3

I love Naomi’s wise words at the end of Ruth 3 of “wait.” Waiting is hard for all of us, but whether you are waiting for a spouse to come into your life, waiting on a change in circumstances, or waiting on test results, God is there in all of the waiting, working and weaving His will. Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Ruth: Week 3, Day 5: Ruth 3:14-18

SUMMARY OF RUTH 3:14-18

Ruth left early so no one would know she was at the threshing floor. He gave her barley to take home. Ruth told Naomi all that happened and now they wait for Boaz’s word.

QUESTIONS FOR RUTH 3:14-18

12 ) Boaz sends Ruth away before daylight so that no one would know that she spent the night at the threshing floor and thereby have her purity questioned. He filled Ruth’s shaw with six measures of barley before she left to take back to Naomi. He would get an answer immediately.

13 ) Naomi’s response of, “Wait, my daughter, until you find out what happens” shows her faith that everything will work out in God’s plan, not hers. God determines what path we take no matter what plans we put forth.

14 ) There’s lots of areas where I have to wait. For instance, my job is cutting my pay and my position so I’m waiting to see by how much before I make a career move. It’s always hard to wait on things because we want things now. God always has a plan, and we want to skip it most of the time.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO RUTH 3:14-18

Great example for us on the importance and power of waiting. Things will work themselves out, and we will have answers in time. It’s just a matter of waiting and having patience in the waiting. I usually distract myself during this time by keeping busy. Still, patience is not a strong point of many of us, but practice does make perfect! Contact me with questions!

SUMMARY OF RUTH 3:10-13

Boaz blesses her for her kindness and for choosing him over others. Everyone knows she is of noble character. However, there is a kinsman-redeemer before him who has the first right to redeem. He will ask if he is willing; otherwise, Boaz will accept her.

QUESTIONS FOR RUTH 3:10-13

9) It’s exactly what I expected. After all, Boaz has been taking care of Ruth and Naomi since he first returned from Bethlehem and heard about Ruth’s story. (Ruth 2:5) Once it was discovered he was a kinsman-redeemer, it was only a matter of time.

10 ) There are always obstacles. For me, it tends to be time to do everything I want to do. But, I’m re-prioritizing my time so I can help more people and become better myself.

11 ) Boaz could have easily have not asked the other kinsman-redeemer if he wanted Ruth. This was a risk he was taking, which could have been bad for him if he truly cared for or loved Ruth. He praises Ruth and blesses her for not going to other suitors. He does the right thing. That’s my prayer, too. To do the right thing, even if it’s risky.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO RUTH 3:10-13

It’s hard to say which person — Boaz or Ruth — is more nobler in this situation. Ruth is noble for the way she proposes marriage, while Boaz takes the high ground as well and wants to make sure that he is following the law to the T. Both have faith that God will work things out as they should, meaning if they are to be together, then God will find a way for it to happen. We never see them question or hear them complain. SUMMARY OF RUTH 3:5-9

Ruth follows Naomi’s instructions. Boaz wakes up in the middle of the night and asks her who she is. She says she is Ruth and asks him to spread his garment over her as he is her kinsman-redeemer.

QUESTIONS FOR RUTH 3:5-9

6 ) Ruth follows Naomi’s instructions to the letter because she trusts and obeys her. I hope I follow God’s obedience and orders as well as Ruth does.

7 ) Boaz was sleeping at the threshing floor in order to guard the grain until he could move it. Thus, Boaz was probably startled to find Ruth and may have thought her a thief at first. What relief it was only Ruth!

8 ) Ruth asks Boaz to be her kinsman-redeemer, to take care of her and provide for her. She knows God is her provider and will take care of her all the days of her life. She has seen these same qualities in Boaz, too. Having faith that someone else can help provide for you is what marriage is all about.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO RUTH 3:5-9

I love looking at scripture in small chunks like in this Ruth bible study. Here, we see Ruth take the chance of asking Boaz to marry her. She is honest and forthright, and she trusts God to handle the details. It doesn’t ever seem like Ruth hesitates. She was probably scared, but she put one foot in front of the other in faith, which is how we should walk everyday in our walk with God. If you have questions, reach out to me today!
