Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Hebrews: Week 3, Day 3: Hebrews 9:11-28

SUMMARY OF HEBREWS 9:11-28

Christ is the mediator of the new covenant. He entered the Most Holy Place by his own blood that offered eternal redemption. The blood of Christ cleanses us inwardly and outwardly. We are now set free from our sins and able to inherit eternal life.

The Old Covenant required that everything has to be cleansed with blood in order to be forgiven. He offered himself one time as the eternal sacrifice. He will appear a second time to bring salvation to those who await him.

QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 9:11-28

7) Christ is the mediator of the new covenant. He entered the Most Holy Place by his own blood that offered eternal redemption. The blood of Christ cleanses us inwardly and outwardly. We are now set free from our sins and able to inherit eternal life. It’s important because it gives us eternal life, which the Old Covenant could not do.

8 ) Immeasurable gratitude. A desire to be like him. An acceptance of his sacrifice for my sins.

9) Jesus offers the New Covenant to us by his one sacrifice for us all. It is received by those who accept his sacrifice on the cross for us and who believe in him.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO HEBREWS 9;11-28

Christ died once for us for our eternal inheritance. When you grasp that fact, nothing else in your world — none of your problems — matters.

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Hebrews: Week 3, Day 2: Hebrews 9:1-10

SUMMARY OF HEBREWS 9:1-10

The first covenant had regulations for worship. A tabernacle was where worship took place. Here there was a lampstand, table, and consecrated bread in the Holy Place, or first room. Behind the second curtain was the Most Holy Place, where the golden altar of incence and the Ark of the Covenant was. The ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron’s staff, and the stone tablet of the covenant. Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory that overlooked the atonement cover.

The priests used the outer room but ony the high priest entered the inner room once a year for a sin offering. The way into the Most Holy Place had not been disclosed yet. All of the offerings offered, such as gifts, sacrifices, and ceremonial cleansings, were only external regulations until the new order arrived.

QUESTIONS FOR HEBREWS 9:1-10

4) All of the offerings offered, such as gifts, sacrifices, and ceremonial cleansings, were only external regulations until the new order arrived. These sacrifices only partially cleansed man of sin and only the high priest could enter.

5) God required a blood offering to be a symbol of the atonement of man for their sins. This was due to the fact that the life of the animal is in the blood. This was the only way to be forgiven for our sins before the coming of Christ and his final blood sacrifice for us.

6) Because the blood sacrifices were never enough to cleanse us to be able to stand before God. We had to have the perfect sacrifice, Jesus, to do so. Now, we don’t have to worry about being forgiven; Christ took care of that for us. We should never feel guilt after we’ve made atonement for those sins.

CONCLUSIONS TO WORDGO HEBREWS 9:1-10

I for one am super grateful I don’t have to slaughter animals to be near God. Great explanation of the imperfectness of the Old Covenant.
