BSF Notes & Questions for BSF’s Study of Genesis

Hey all!

A BSF leader has shared with me a document that contains all of the notes and questions for the entire study of Genesis. As it is impossible to know who is actually in the study and who is not, I will not share it here. Obviously, this document will get out since you can share it with whoever you want and will probably circulate around the internet. BSF has most definitely loosened their control over their documents; however, all questions and notes are still copyrighted by BSF, meaning you cannot reproduce them without permission.

I am not a teaching leader; only an attendee. If I get permission to share, I will. If you would like to email me, I can share on a case by case basis.

If you ask your teaching leader, I’m sure they will share this with you as it is meant for you to print out so you have access without having to use the Internet. Since BSF notes and questions are still only meant for attendees, I am honoring that wish.

MY ANSWERS WILL BE POSTED AS WE DO THE LESSONS!

God bless, and I can’t wait for this study of Genesis with you all!

How NOT to Feel Guilty When Life Gets in the Way

To say this year has been strange would be a graniose understatement. Everyone is coping the best they can and in different ways. And it seems as if things change on a daily basis. Making plans has become futile it seems. Some people have cancelled plans to go and see family and friends. Some people have hardly left the house. Others have moved states or even left the country to flee the chaos that life has been.

In the midst of COVID-19, living your life, dealing with your job (or your job loss), taking care of your kids (maybe even schooling them at home for the first time), and still doing all of your chores and some of your activities at least, you may have forgotten to pray every night because you are worried about what your future looks like. It may have been a while since you’ve opened the Bible because you truly don’t feel like it.

Most of us have been banned from attending church, further pushing us away from God and pushing Him our of our minds (no, attending church online is just not the same community that God intended). The world is against growing with God (which it always has been, but it’s infinitely harder to do so now).

DON’T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT NOT GROWING WITH GOD!

Life has gotten in the way of your growth with God, and I’m here to tell you that it’s okay. God knows everything. He knows your heart. He knows your soul. He knows your intent. He most definitely know about this COVID virus and what it’s done to our world.

We all move through times in our life where we are extremely close to God and where we are far away. It’s okay to be far away. You don’t need to beat yourself up over it.

One of the best things about God is that He is there when you are ready. He knows you’ll turn back to Him. And He patiently waits. He forgives you. So forgive yourself.

Do what you have to do to mentally, emotionally, financially, and physically survive this pandemic. THEN, God will be there.

Coffee and God: When You Have Nothing To Say…

Hey all!

It’s the last Sunday of the month, I’m drinking my coffee, and thinking about God and you all.

This year has been rough for many of us. It definitely has not been anything we imagined when we made our New Year’s Resolutions 6 months ago. Many of us are still facing restrictions in our lives we wish weren’t there. Many of us cannot travel to see new places, or even to see our friends and family. Many of us see life slipping by when we don’t have those days to waste.

My dear friend, Lissette Trahan, is about to release a book of prayers, and I wrote a forward for her just now. It got me thinking about how many of us, when we go to God in prayer, have nothing to say. We begin “Dear God” and then nothing. This has been me lately.

I’m here to tell you it’s okay if you have nothing to say. Truly, God knows your heart, mind, and thoughts and knows what troubles you, where you need Him to show up, and how much pain you are in. But, He likes to hear our voices anyways. It’s the effort that matter, not the results.

What matters is that you do show up — not what you say. Show up, and God will show up. And for many of us, that’s all we need right now.

5 Tips to Study the Bible When You Have Little Time

Most of us have no time anymore, even with COVID concerns. It seems that the days, while chugging along, are always filled. So how do you study the Bible in the midst of personal chaos?

5 TIPS TO STUDY THE BIBLE WHEN YOU HAVE NO TIME

  1. Listen to the Bible. If you drive anywhere (which is the vast majority of us), you can listen to the Bible while in the car. Even if you are only driving five minutes to the grocery store. Any time with God is better than no time with God.
  2. Pick a Bible verse and memorize it. There are so many good (and short) Bible verses to memorize, and it takes very little time. Choose one every week, and you’ll be surprised at how much you’ve memorized of the Bible.
  3. Put Bible verses around your home. This can be on whiteboards, on the fridge, on your bathroom mirror, on your BBQ grill, and on your home gym. Sticky notes fit anywhere!
  4. Pray. When you pray, you don’t need anything — only a heart right for God. It’s that simple.
  5. Decide to read the Bible for 5 minutes every day. That’s it! We all have 5 minutes to spare, so just do it!

I hope you’ve enjoyed these quick tips to help you study the Bible when you have no time. Contact me today with questions!

Inspirational Quote: God’s Power

2 Corinthians 4:7-9

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
