Summer Bible Study: Sermon on the Mount: Week 4, Day 1: Matthew 7

SUMMARY OF MATTHEW 7

Jesus is still speaking his sermon on the mount. Do not judge others, and you won’t be judged. Quit being a hypocrite and judging others for it. Do not give your valuables to others who may trample them and tear you to pieces.

“Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.” If you ask God, He will give you good gifts like we would our kids.

Do unto others what you want done to you. This is the Law.

The road to life has a small gate and is narrow and only a few find it. The road to destruction is wide and broad and many enter.

Watch out for false prophets whom you will know by the fruit they bear. They will bear bad fruit and can only bear bad fruit. Good trees bear good fruit, and bad ones bear bad. Bad trees are cut down and thrown into the fire.

Only those who do the will of the Father will get into heaven. Basically, those who aren’t hypocrites and truly have a heart for God.

Those who follow God’s law and Jesus’s teaching will have a firm foundation like someone who built his house on a rock. Those who don’t are like the foolish man who built his house on sand, so the house eventually fell under the strain.

The crowds were amazing as Jesus’s authoritative teachings.

Questions for Matthew 7

1) It reveals the goodness of God for giving us His word and His ways to floow. Humans have free will, so some will follow God’s teachings and ways and others will not. That is human nature. It takes faith in God to put into practice His laws for us so that we can stand strong against evil.

2) I hope they reveal my faith to stand firm in God’s ways and in His strength to weather the storms, trials, and tribulations of life.

Conclusions to Sermon on the Mount Matthew 7

We must depend on God for all things and in all things. Only then can we find contentment and peace.

Proverbs 3:5-6

REFLECTION QUESTIONS FOR PROVERBS 3:5-6

15) I hope I’m on the path to wisdom. I hope I make wiser decisions and listen to where God is sending me.

16) All hard work brings a profit. Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans. The Lord works out everything to its proper end. I need to pray for direction in my life. That the Lord puts the right people in my life to help me accomplish my goals. I need to practice extreme discipline once my path is set.

Dear Lord, please put the right people in my path to accomplish my goals if they are your goals for the next phase in my life. Give me the daily strength to take steps to accomplish these goals. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Summer Bible Study: WordGo’s Study of Wisdom: Week 3, Day 5: Proverbs 30 and 31

Summary of Proverbs 30

“I am weary, God, but I can prevail.” Every word of God is flawless. He is our shield to take refuge.

Summary of Proverbs 31

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

A wife of noble character is worth far more than rubies. She lacks nothing of value. She brings her husband good. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. Her lamp does not go out at night. She helps the poor. Her children arise and call her blessed. Woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

I haven’t read the wife of noble character passage for a while. This is encouraging as sometimes I think I’m not all that noble.

The lips of a king speak as an oracle, and his mouth does not betray justice. I have always been curt, so I’m always working on my mouth. I now take my time more before I speak and take the time I need before I respond. I try to be understanding and nice in all my communications.
