Joy

JOY

When I surrendered my life to You
Little did I know what it would do
How much joy that it would bring
When You erased all of my sin

A joy that nothing can take away
Powerless to touch, it’s there to stay
Nor grief, nor pain, nor sorrow , nor loss,
That is the victory of the cross

I still have days when things are shattered
Days I have tears and nothing matters
But even then I know He is there
Loving and caring, I don’t despair

Human relations come to an end
Even the ones we call best friend

There is one friend nothing destroys
He is the reason for my joy
I can’t imagine life without Him
He is with me through thick and thin

On Jesus, my Savior, I can depend
My friend until the end

My Dog and Cat Died Because of Me

When God created the universe, death did not exist.  Life abounded.  There were not predators and no prey.  All lived in the Garden of Eden with every need provided:  food, water, and shelter.  Life was perfect.

Then man sinned.  He ate of the forbidden tree, the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil.  God cursed man, banishing him from the Garden, bringing death to all.  Hence, all creation suffers because of man’s sin.

When I held my dying dogs in my arms, I blamed myself for their pain, suffering, and death.  I look at my cats, all of whom are aging rapidly, and think, “They are gonna die because of me”.  All innocent creatures who live in the moment that God gave us to care for and we are completely incapable of caring for them.  I feel like I let them down when they die.

My kids and I have been reading a lot of books about animals.  Extinct animals and endangered animals come up a lot.  For example, the tiger.  One of the most magnificent animals God has created and we kill them for their coats and gall bladders.  So few left…

Tiger
Tiger

I just read on line how only three northern white rhinos are in existence today–all killed by man for their horns.  Their horns!  It would be like killing humans for their hair.

Extinct animals:  the Dodo bird, the Passenger pigeon, the Tasmanian tiger, the Great Auk, the Baiji White Dolphin, Steller’s Sea Cow, the West African Black Rhino, the Pinta Island Tortoise–all at the hands of man.

Almost extinct animals:  The Javan Rhinoceros, Hawaiian Monk Seal, the Mountain Gorilla, the Island Fox, the Bactrian Camel, Philippine Eagle, California Condor, Amur Leopard, Sumatran Rhino, Vaquita, Kakapo, Iberian Lynx, Siamese Crocodile, and so many, many more.

Yet in the midst of this I see God.  I see how God created us and everything to reflect Him and His greatness.  No where is this more miraculous than in the birth of a newborn baby–human or animal.  This is all despite our sin.

This makes me yearn for heaven and Jesus to come again–to end the pain and the suffering and the sin of man who cannot stop sinning without Jesus.

Death is the hardest part of life in my opinion.  Not necessarily my own death because once I’m gone it doesn’t affect me.  Death of those around us since we have to go on living…

My Cats
My Cats

I pray to enjoy those around me while I can.  To not take one moment for granted.  To hold my kitties a little tighter.  To kiss my kids more.  To spend more time with my family.  To do what I can to stop the death of endangered species (by not buying their products number one) and supporting those capable of lending aid.  And yes, for Jesus to come again–the ultimate end to this Fallen World.

Who Is This Man

WHO IS THIS MAN

Who is this man who changed history
Even the times are known as BC-AD
He left His mighty power to become like us
From being God to human–that is love

He came with a plan, to save humanity
We had no hope, dominated by sin
Fire, Wailing and gnashing of teeth
That is what our future would have been

Jesus is the man who changed history

Just as all mankind was a part of Adam’s sin
Jesus’ sinless death saved humanity
His death and resurrection reversed everything
He became like us, so we might become like Him

Now we have to choose between death or life
The Kingdom of darkness or the Kingdom of light

He came to earth as an innocent lamb
How can I show Him how grateful I am
His love for us I will never understand
I know before He came He had it all planned

Jesus, the man, who changed history
His one selfless act gave us eternity

Gratitude

GRATITUDE

My life is full of blessings
My deepest gratitude
It fills my heart, I want to sing
Praising my love for You

Perfect gifts come from above
You bless me everyday
I feel the presence of Your love
You’re never far away

My soul is ever thanking you
I want to show You day by day
Loving others the way You do
I know that is the way

There is so much to thank You for
Your Mercy, Love and Grace
The Comforter You gave me Lord
A gift that I embrace

My heart is full of thanksgiving
You gave Your life for me
Loving and so willingly
My life you Guaranteed

To live with You eternally
I rejoice

God is Good!

This Friend You’ve Given Me

THIS FRIEND YOU’VE GIVEN ME

The many gifts and blessings Lord
That you have given me
Fill me with thanks and gratitude
And love that praises thee

But there’s one thing above the rest
I treasure specially
I hardly know how to express
It means so much to me

When sorrow strikes I call her
She hears my “Woe is me”
And let’s me talk forever
Then says, “Let’s pray, shall we?”

You knew all she would have to be
To get along with me
So then you gave her Patience,
Love and Humility

But what I cherish most of all
Is the ability
To share the love we have for You
With this friend
You’ve given me

We Perish Lord

WE PERISH LORD

I looked around the world today
Chaos, Confusion, Disarray
The pain and sorrow, hurt and care
Lord, “What is happening out there?”

What’s happened to the unity
That stood for home and family
Where did the love and honor go
A child to parents used to show?

Abortion, Drugs, Adultery
Are words this generation knows
Corruption’s all that I can see
Lord, “Are you really in control?”

The Faith and Hope and Charity
This nation had and used to share
Where has it gone, it used to be?
We perish Lord, Why don’t You care?

This world You died and suffered for
Does it not need you anymore?
I fear that it’s so blind to see
Are we repeating history?

Son of David, have mercy on me
Incline Your ear, please hear my plea
I know nothing’s too hard for you
For they don’t know Lord what they do

Pour forth Your spirit – awake the dead
Those stony hearts will turn instead
Your grace and love will mightily
Do miracles Lord, as you did for me.

Promises

PROMISES

God I am so sorry
I have offended thee
It’s always the same story
These sins that beset me

I cry out so sincerely
Confess and promise You
These sins I lay before thee
Again I’ll never do

Then comes a bright new morning
I praise and worship You
My sins have been forgiven
I’ll start my life anew

So here I am this eve-ning
What did I do today?
I thoroughly examine
What did I have to say?

Alas, the same old story
I have offended Thee
I come again so humbly
Knowing You will hear me

As I kneel down before you
I realize gratefully
Your promises to me
Are not like mine to Thee.

Where Have You Been?

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN

Early do I seek Him
With a cry deep from within
My prayer was just to know Him
Why do I search again?

My bibles, books, and tapes
I frantically search through
One glimpse, one sign this day, O Lord
That’s all I ask of you

You said I’d never thirst again
Why then my panting heart
One look was all you gave me then
Now how to live apart

With tears of desperation
I dropped down to my knees
My God have You forgotten
Your promises to me?

And then ever so gently
I heard deep from within
Your prayer was just to know me
Why do you search again?

The day you opened up the door
And asked me to come in
I have been waiting here for you
My child “Where have you been”?

It’s No Coincidence

IT’S NO COINCIDENCE

I know it’s no coincidence
I live just where I do
You’ve planned my life and know my ways
You know me through and through

When trials come along the way
As they so often do
I know it’s no coincidence
I feel so close to you

The joy that soars within me
At the mention of your name
I know it’s no coincidence
Through death my life You claimed

When nothing is the matter
But I still feel so cast down
I know it’s no coincidence
Scriptures with love abound

A peace that I don’t understand
Yet flows through all of me
I know it’s no coincidence
You promised it would be

And then sometimes I wonder
Lord, Why do you love me
He said , “It’s no coincidence
That you happen to be”

With love and joy I formed you
And knew all you would be
You see it’s no coincidence
That you belong to me.

What Really Matters

WHAT REALLY MATTERS

I’ve reached another crossroad
In my life today
Two paths I have before me
Confusion either way

Changes that make me tremble
Choices so hard to make
My circumstances tell me
My whole life is at stake

Just when I started feeling
That my life was orderly
You turned it upside down again
O Lord, Why should it be?

All that I see before me
Is a life so far away
From everything that matters
O Lord, I want to stay

And as I turn to go my way
I glimpse so fearfully
At that rough and jagged path
That was not meant for me

Amongst the thorns and briers
And many deep val–leys
I see someone so very dear
That says “Come Follow Me”

Now all I see before me
Is a life so far away
With everything that matters
Yes Lord, I’ll go your way.
